This view is familiar to most of us who grew up, studied, or worked in Baguio City. It is our paradise, our place of refuge, our comfort zone, regardless of the differences in our life stories or experiences.
I'm so thankful that art commissions like this give me the opportunity to finally work on an image that I have long since wanted to do.
May this invoke in you the joy, excitement, and calm that the place always exudes.
I made the pines on the left as red as possible so we would be reminded of the beautiful red Cordilleran traditional wear. That red keeps us mindful of its presence even as we enjoy looking at other parts of the image. May this remind us to honor our Cordilleran ancestors who have preserved the beauty and culture of this place which most of us, near or far, consider our home.
