Still feeling sick, I spent half the day at work and half of it doing online history research. I found out that my former boss and forever kuya, Kuya Erwin, should really be called Mandirigmang Erwin since he is the direct descendant of Mateo Luga, an Ibanag veteran of the Philippine Revolution and Philippine-American War. After distinguishing himself in battles in Luzon, Mateo Luga was sent by General Aguinaldo and General Luna to help the war effort in Cebu. Wow. :-)
"The brain of the movement was centered in Juan Climaco, whilst Mateo Luga exhibited the best fighting qualities."
The source below cites that General Emilio Aguinaldo and other remaining Katipuneros attended Mateo Luga's funeral in 1935.
Things like these are not in our standard history books on Philippine heroes probably because of neglect and probably because we have so many heroes. An account of all of them will not fit any history book.
I haven't heard about it yet. Thank you for the info. Looks yummy indeed. I hope I get to experience it one day.
