The One Single Regret of a Lifetime Distant Spectator

I am disappointed with myself. I grew up watching the NBA and the PBA from the far Cordillera mountains via television sets in Philex Mines, Benguet or in Baguio City.
The past two days I simply satisfied myself watching the Smart Ultimate All-Star Weekend on TV.
WHAT. WAS. I. T.H.I.N.K.I.N.G?
I simply passed up the rare opportunity to watch LIVE the awesome line-up of super great players like Kobe, K. Durant, D. Rose, C. Paul, Fisher, McGee, Harden and Evans playing against the two line ups of PBA All-stars and the Smart Gilas -- on Philippine soil, just a ride away from where I live.
They put on a show that everyone who watched will never forget. The NBA superstars enjoyed themselves. Everyone cheered both sides. Filipinos score, they shout victoriously! The visitors score, the crowd roars! Everyone was cheering both sides. They made basketball look so easy and fun! Thank you, Mr. Manny Pangilinan, as if the Smart Gilas and your support for other sports are not enough. :-)
I got so used to watching major events like EDSA 1 and all events, shows and movies via television either through the air waves or media storage from betamax tapes to DVDs. This probably explains why I still have never felt any compulsion to watch a major event/show at the Araneta Coliseum even seven years into my stay here at Quezon City. And now I am seriously regretting what I passed up. Oh well. Maybe next time.
