6th Year Anniversary Hymn
Six years into our marriage and all I can afford for her are the works of my head and hands -- an anniversary hymn printed on photo paper.

This hymn bows to a love who knows
Beyond theory and prose
That living since 2009
Hasn't been better but worse
Hasn't made richer but poorer
Nor transformed her sickness to health.
Yet here she waves her calendars
Counting not the days
But numbering the ways
Of how it truly is
To hope, believe
And cleave.
