Unexpected Valentine's Treat
Posted outside our computer shop during Valentine's Day |
My wife and I were busy inside our computer shop during Valentine's Day. Students coming and going would ask "Sir, aren't you going out on a date with Ate Neri?" Nerissa and I would just smile knowing we had to be in our small computer shop. I would just answer them, "This is our Valentine's date. We need to earn a living." :)
There was a brief commotion outside the shop later in the day so I went out to check and this was what I saw posted on our front wooden windows. What a pleasant surprise initiated by my second year BSED English major students at the Community College of Manito.
Their thoughtfulness was a big encouragement already but the words they wrote were very humbling. Some students have not been my students yet but they also posted notes.
I am grateful for their love for Nerissa. One thing Nerissa enjoys doing at the computer shop is interacting with students. They have grown to love her as she has grown to love them. She has developed friendships with even while students are just waiting for their printouts or for their turn at the computer.
Thank you for making a rather ordinary Valentine's day one of the most meaningful yet. Congratulations also for the play "Anticipation" you staged last week. As I told you yesterday you exceeded my expectations. I am proud of you and all the other CCM students. You all know who you are!
I also remember some students who gave notes and gifts last Christmas simply out of the blue. Upon questioning by Nerissa one of them replied by text message, "Nakaka-good vibes kasi kayo. Nagsimula kami hindi pa kami marunong mag-computer..."
Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! May you all reach the heights of success as God gives you all the blesssings!
